Making porous semiconductors

Scientists at Wayne State made the first-ever aerogel with semiconducting properties. If the new aerogels can be prepared in thin films, they could be used in photovoltaic, catalysis and sensing applications. \"We have opened up a new class of aerogels,\" said Stephanie Brock, assistant professor of Chemistry, who made the new aerogels with her colleagues.
